PS 199x SCAN Program Overview
The Supportive Children's Advocacy Network and P.S.199x have partnered to provide a community based after-school program that is inclusive of all students, to provide cultural exploration, awareness and sensitivity.
The After-School program is funded by New York City’s Department of Youth and Community Development's Out-of-School-Time Initiative (DYCD). Our program usually services 157 students in grades K through 5 for 15 hours per week during the school year. However Due to the recent COVID- 19 pandemic our program will only be able to accommodate 50 students at this time. The program is designed to enrich students' learning through STEM, Science inquiry, exploration and cultural studies as well as recreational activities. During program hours, students will have time for a meal, literacy and math enrichment assistance, service learning, health and nutrition, recreation, in addition to the heart of the program; cultural enrichment.
Learn and Lead
The mission of Learn & Lead is to teach elementary school students skills that deepen and broaden their academic competencies. Skilled staff will provide meaningful experiences in the areas of: art, music, technology, science, community service and sports. Exposure to these areas will develop the skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary for children to become responsible and productive citizens and thus, leaders within local and/or global communities.

Citywide Behavioral Expectations // Expectativas de conducta
We believe all children deserve such environments and that all children have the potential to learn and succeed. That
means, first and foremost, that our schools must be safe. It also means that, in keeping them safe, we must
preserve their essential character as places of learning, while serving the needs of the whole child. Use the link to view New York City's Behavioral Expectations. Discipline Code K-5.pdf
